The Apocalypse…or Just Spoiled Milk?

Commentary by Watchman73

As I shopped for milk the other day, I thought it was funny that all of the milk in Braum’s cooler was marked with the ominous 12-21-12 expiration date. After all, here we are 10 days away from the end of the world. That’s what many people around the world are saying anyway. No doubt, it is pretty amazing that so many cultures, separated by hundreds of years, have similar prophecies concerning this period of time. Much has been written on the subject and opinions seem to vary greatly on whether the end of the Mayan calendar will bring the complete end of the world, or merely the end of the present age with the beginning of a new age of enlightenment. There was a TV show in the 1970’s called “In Search Of” that aired an episode in which they stated that the Maya believed there would be a great earthquake at the end of 2012 followed by the return of their prophesied “new men of knowledge” to set up a peaceful world government to fight the forces of evil. Does this sound like the Antichrist and his minions to you too? Then, of course, there is Hollywood with their 2009 movie release “2012” that depicts the end of the world as we know it. Unfortunately Hollywood’s version of 2012 is the only information that the general public possesses.

As a bible-believing Christian, I know that many bible prophecies have yet to be fulfilled before the end of the world can come. The prophecies that have already been fulfilled, such as the first coming of Jesus, were fulfilled precisely as they were written in scripture. Why then, would we not expect the remaining prophecies to also be fulfilled with the same precision? The bible states that all scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16). We can, and must, trust God’s Word as complete truth. We are seeing many world events unfold right now that seem to indicate that the return of Jesus is closer than ever. Damascus is potentially about to be destroyed (Isaiah 17), and the Gog/Magog war of Ezekiel 38 & 39 is shaping up as I write this, with all of the pieces on the chessboard being moved into position. In addition, the beast system of total control is being unveiled before our eyes with the rapid implementation of RFID, biometrics, mandatory vaccines, drones, and internal checkpoints, to name a few. Very soon all citizens of the world will be required to have an RFID microchip implant in order to have healthcare and access to the coming digital financial system. In other words, you will not be able to buy or sell unless you worship the beast and take his mark (Revelation 13: 16-17).

Herein lies the frustration for Christians with the hype surrounding 12-21-12. Satan has been working overtime to make sure there is plenty of confusion and fear surrounding the subject. For those of us that have been watching world events and trying desperately to warn the people of the imminent return of Jesus, the hysteria surrounding 2012 only adds confusion to the lost and blindness to the ignorant masses. When December 22nd comes and the world is still intact, the scoffers will be out in full force mocking anyone who dares to warn the people of the true impending doom of God’s wrath.

Recently a Christian brother was lamenting on a YouTube video that those of us who are watching closely for the return of Jesus are experiencing fatigue and frustration as the world continues to unravel, and yet our Messiah has not returned. I believe that Satan is capitalizing on this by adding distractions and disinformation in order to weaken God’s people and silence the warning message.

Regardless of what happens or does not happen on this infamous date, the truth is that apocalyptic events are occurring and increasing in frequency daily. The majority of the world is lost and rejects the true gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact, most people are completely oblivious to God’s coming judgement, despite the huge warning signs he is giving us. As the bride of Jesus, we must continue to warn the people and prepare ourselves to meet the Bridegroom when he comes suddenly. Watch and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and stand before the Son of man (Luke 21:36). I can almost hear the shofar blast. Can you hear it? It’s the sound of our coming King! Look up!
