1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Timothy 4: 1-4 (KJV)
The signs of the end of the age have been coming faster and more dramatically each and every day. One of the biggest signs I can see (and the one that really gets me fired up) is the apostasy of the organized church in America.
There is so much falling away from truth in today’s organized church. The stories I see of the over-the-top pro-LGBTQ churches across America make me violently ill. Thankfully those types of churches aren’t scattered across the middle of the country where I live; however, what we do have is much more subtle and just as deadly.
There’s a small non-denominational church that I pass by every day on my way to work that has a marque out front advertising their latest attraction for the seeker that just hasn’t found their comfortable “church home” as they say these days. It’s usually something about prophecy rooms or prophecy readings on Tuesday nights, or some such nonsense. The other day though I was blown away by their message as I drove by. It said “Letting you be you since 1999.” How unbelievably sad that statement is! What benefit is it to the soul that’s perishing to be allowed to continue being the same? Is the gospel not transforming to the lost individual? When we are saved by the blood of Jesus, is our old man not dead so that we may be made new in the Spirit of Christ?
I thank God every day that He didn’t “let me be me” any longer! On that one day, when I came to the cross of Christ on my knees, the old me was dead instantly and I was born again to no longer walk in the darkness of my own sin; but rather, to walk in the newness of life and in the light of the righteousness of God. The only relationship that is vital to the saving of my soul is the personal relationship I have with Jesus. Praise God, my life is no longer mine, but His, for I was bought with His blood!
I could go on and on, but the fact is, I simply don’t have time to point out everything that’s wrong with churches like this. I will simply cut and paste some excerpts directly from their website, followed up with just a few scriptures from the Word of God. You can read this churches own words compared with God’s Word and see if you find their statements to be the least bit troubling. There are so many churches preaching another gospel and praising another Jesus; but, don’t be deceived, there is only one truth and one way to the Father. His name is Jesus and He will be returning soon as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, not the sacrificial Lamb of God! Make yourself ready, the Bridegroom is coming!
GRACE AND ACCEPTANCE FOR ALL
In the parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus paints a beautiful and clear picture of our Father:
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Luke 15: 20
No cross-examination… no lecture… no leading in a proper prayer of repentance. Just love for His lost son.
The Father’s not waiting for us to pray the right way or to show the proper remorse for our failures; He is simply waiting for us to return to Him. God’s desire is to give us grace (unmerited favor)… And then for us to give that same grace to everyone around us…unconditionally!
We extend grace to others even before we know they are really sorry…before they learn their lesson…before they really change…before they promise to never do it again…Just like our Heavenly Father does for us.
WE VALUE WHAT GOD VALUES: PEOPLE/RELATIONSHIP
Jesus determines the value of people by paying the price to purchase them! Matthew 13:44 says that the Father spent all He had (Jesus) to purchase mankind.
Jesus spent the majority of His time on earth developing friendships. People are the most valuable thing in the universe.
Jesus said, “On love hangs all the law and prophets.” Why would our focus be on anything other than love?
Relationships and love are more important than theology.
The bible is full of scriptures that are contrary to this church’s statements. Here are just a few that I quickly put together:
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Acts 3: 19(KJV)
Acts 17: 30-31(KJV)
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3: 3 (KJV)
Romans 6: 1-11 (KJV)
2 Corinthians 5: 14-17 (KJV)
Ephesians 4: 17-24 (KJV)
